GSAS SUSTAINABILITY AT AL FAISAL UNIVERISTY

GSAS has held a professional certification course at Al Faisal University and successfully certified the first group of Saudi female architectural engineering students this past March 2014. The certified group of female architectural engineering students will serve as the first ever GSAS certified professional Saudi females. Al Faisal University Engineering Faculty Eng. Mona Kamal coordinated the certification coarse for her students and stated: " I am extremely proud of this group of Architectural Engineers and believe that they will inspire future students and professionals alike to make sustainable engineering and design practice common place in the industry." Al Faisal University has made it their aim to continue to encourage it's students to attain professional certification in areas relevant to their professional prior graduation as a part of its progressive stance towards education. The Ihya Tower office building in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on King Abdallah Road will be the first built GSAS rated building in Saudi Arabia. The building is an IHYAMUDUN development project designed by Architect Amir Abourass, ADL Los Angeles. The building is designed in accordance with the GSAS sustainability design guidelines and will generate solar power via it's glass curtain wall by means of building integrated photovoltaic as well as utilize sustainable building materials to ensure an efficient, long lasting sustainable architecture.
